HK Domestic Cricket Preview – 2nd and 3rd December 2017

Saturday Championship

The first division of the Saturday Championship sees USRC/MCC face off against the HKCC Gap Ramblers at the Hong Kong Cricket Club.  With only one win between them so far this season both teams will be looking to turn around their slow start and register a much needed win.

The second division has two intriguing match ups this weekend, out at PKVR Park the CCC Hung See side take on the Borrelli Walsh Centaurs.  The Centaurs have only lost the one match and are sitting mid-table, this looms as a danger match given their expectation of defeating a side who have yet to register a win this season.  At the Kowloon Cricket Club, the KCC Tartars play host to the CHK Pioneers in what looks on paper to be a one-sided affair.  Should both favourites salute the bottom half of the second division will start to take shape.

Sunday Elite

Both Kowloon Cricket Club teams are in action this weekend, the KCC Infidels cruised to an 8-wicket win last week against the CHK Dragons with star batsman Simandeep Singh scoring an undefeated 77 from 57 balls and will be looking to continue this good form into an important fixture against USRC out at PKVR Park.  USRC are undefeated in the division having only played two matches with one washout.

Meanwhile the KCC Templars will be looking to rebound against DLSW JKN after a tough loss to Pakistan Association last weekend.  Chasing 160 for victory Pakistan Association were in deep trouble at 8 for 80, before a sublime innings from number 10, Manjinder Singh (54* from 41 balls) helped them record an important one wicket victory.  DLSW JKN were premiers in 2016-17, finishing a solitary point ahead of the KCC Templars and this match promises to be another important one in deciding who raise the trophy this season.

The Hong Kong Cricket Club plays host to the Wanderers and Pakistan Association, Pakistan Association will take a lot of confidence out of the win against the Templars last week and will hope to continue the Wanderers woes in 2017-18.  A last start win against the DLSW DTC Mobile side for the Wanderers will go some way towards lifting the spirits of the players.

Women’s League

The HKCC Cavaliers and the KCC Maidens will battle it out at PKVR Reservoir in the morning game on Sunday.  The Cavaliers will be looking to register their first win of the season while the Maidens need to bounce back after a disappointing loss to an under-strength Willow Wielders outfit last weekend.  The second match on Sunday is between the DLSW Wasps and the HKCC Willow Wielders, the latter will welcome back a host of International representatives and hope to make it 2 from 2 this season.
