HK Domestic Cricket Preview – 9th and 10th December 2017

Saturday Championship

The Lamma Cricket Club continue to dominate the second division in the 2017-18 season going 4 games unbeaten to sit second on the ladder, with a game in hand.  They take on the DLSW Spartans at PKVR Park on Saturday, the winner will find themselves well in truly in the frame for promotion heading into the second half of the season.

In the top division the HKCC Witherers host the other DLSW side, with Sarjan going into the fixture as favourites having only lost the one match all season.  The Witherers sit mid table and need to continue winning to avoid finishing in the bottom half of the table.

Premier League 2-Day (Fincher Shield)

The annual 2-Day fixture between The Kowloon Cricket Club and The Hong Kong Cricket Club will be played at Cox’s Road this year.  Recent history suggests KCC go in favourites but these matches tend to throw up a surprise or two.  Captain of the HKCC Premier League side Isaac Poole had this to say “The 2-day match is an important and historic fixture for our club. Results haven't gone our way the last few years so we go into the weekend as underdogs. We have selected a mixture of youth and experience, all based on recent form, so we feel confident of coming away with a win.”

The Kowloon Cricket Club will use this occasion to raise money for breast cancer through the McGrath Foundation on Saturday afternoon from 1-4pm (please contact cricket@kcc.org.hk to reserve your spot).

Women’s League

There are two women’s league fixtures this weekend at HKCC and PKVR Reservoir on Sunday, The HKCC Willow Wielders play host to the KCC Maidens up at the Gap in the morning and the DLSW Wasps clash with CCC Fung Wong in the afternoon.  The Maidens and Willow Wielders sit 1st and 2nd on the table respectively so both will be wanting a win to secure their spot at the top of the ladder.  With one win each the Wasps and Fung Wong sides won’t want to drop another game heading into the Christmas break.
