Saturday Championship

CCC Jing Sun vs Pakistan Association Cricket Club

Pakistan Association won the toss and chose to bowl first, Luke Voyce batted beautifully for CCC Jing Sun making 59 from just 66 balls.  The middle order contributed with some starts to help CCC reach 186 from their full allotment of overs.  Nusrullah Rana and Muhammad Azam both took 2 wickets for Pakistan Association Cricket Club.  In reply opener Wajib Shafi made 32 and Imran Arif made a quick fire 51 from 41 balls but it wasn’t enough as they were eventually dismissed for 149 inside 31 overs.  CCC Jing Sun now move to second on the table but cannot catch the champions, the HKCC Gap Ramblers.


Saturday Championship – Knockout Cup

Laguna Gully CC vs Hong Kong University CC

This match would complete the first round of the knockout cup with the winner going on to face the KCC Saracens in the semi-finals.  It was Laguna Gully who won the toss and inserted HKU, opener Ashwin Dokania started well with a run a ball 27 and keeper batsman Dharmik Kumar also contributed 23 runs.  It was Shivam Suri who accelerated the HKU innings smashing 59 from 66 balls coming in at number 6 and helped his side post a competitive 184 from 35 overs.  For Laguna Gully CC, Ramakrishna Saranga and Abhi Desai both picked up 3 wickets.  Unfortunately for Laguna their batsman were unable to get the job done with only Abhi Desai and Ajay Naik reaching double figures, captain of HKU John Wright was the chief destroyer taking 4 for 25 from his 7 overs.  Laguna eventually dismissed for 124 in the penultimate over. 

So, the semi-finals are set, HKU will battle it out against KCC Saracens while the Cenaturs will face USRC/MCC in a few weeks’ time.


Sunday Elite

East Asia Vagabonds vs CHK Dragons

In the final match of the 2017-18 Sunday Elite season the Vagabonds and the Dragons clashed at Mission Road.  The Vagabonds won the toss and batted first, with opener Muhammad Khan making the most of his last hit of the year notching up a brilliant 92 from just 100 balls.  Jamshed Khan was the next best scorer making 89 not out and guided the Vagabonds to an above average total of 304 for 8 from their 50 overs.  Both Ming Li and Henry Sui picked up 3 wickets for the Dragons.  In reply no one could get going for the Dragons, as number 11 Vans Chan top scored with 18, they were eventually dismissed for 89 in just under 28 overs.  The Vagabonds bowlers shared the spoils with Sohail Mohammad the pick, collecting 3 wickets.
