CHK’s Chairman of Selectors Tabarak Dar was happy with the squad:

“The tour will provide a great opportunity for a number of talented youngsters within Hong Kong cricket to showcase their skills and enhance their experience of playing international cricket”

The squad also features a number of more senior players who get an opportunity to get into the rhythm of international cricket ahead of what should be an exciting 2018-19 season”.

CHK’s Head Coach Simon Cook was equally enthused by the make-up of the squad;

“The squad has a nice balance to it with some new names being rewarded for a strong domestic season last season and an outlay of hard work during the off season. The A squad this year have all trained in the gym and on their own and are comfortably the fittest group of players that we have ever had at this level. There were a lot of players left out of our program’s this year and the challenge is there for them to score runs and take wickets to push their way back into the thinking of the selectors. ”

“I am looking forward to seeing Kalhan Marc Challu build on his last tour to Malaysia, Aftab Hussain and Ghanzanfar Mohammad have been excellent in training and it’s exciting to see what they will do. This tour is a great platform for the likes of Shahid Wasif, Raag Kapur and Umar Mohammad to really put pressure on the players above by scoring heavily.
