Women’s Development League Round 4 Review

Round 4 Fixtures –

Morning Fixtures - Craigengower CC v USRC, SCC Divas v Hong Kong CC

Afternoon Fixtures – SCC Divas v Craigengower CC, Hong Kong CC v USRC

CCC batted first and built on last week’s steady batting performance by scoring an impressive 160 in 16 overs. All players contributing to the score with Doris Chan the stand out with 30 off 20 balls.

USRC never backed down in trying to chase 160 but could never quite get going. Vanshika Bhargava scoring 26 from 12 balls made a late attempt to get the scoreboard moving but it was in vain. USRC finishing on 95 from their 16 overs.

CCC won by 65 runs.

In the other game from the morning fixtures, saw HKCC take on the unbeaten SCC Divas. HKCC won the toss and asked SCC Divas to bat.

Some excellent bowling up front for HKCC by Ashley Hung and Aneka Ogden kept the scoring under control. It was the introduction of the Jenny Alumbro (26 off 13 balls) and Josie Arimas (26 off 10 balls) to the crease that gave the Divas the kick start they needed, capitalising on some loose bowling. Divas finishing on 125 off 16 overs.

HKCC found scoring very difficult and no batters were able to get into their stride. Some very impressive bowling from Josie Arimus capped off a player of the match performance with 3-1-7-2. HKCC finished on 76 for 4 from their 16 overs.

SCC Divas winning by 49 runs.

After a heavy down pour of rain, the afternoon fixtures got underway with USRC winning the toss and electing to bowl.

HKCC ticked the scoring along and with a quick fire 22 off 9 balls from Ashley Hung, meant they finished on a competitive 122 for 4 from 16 overs.

HKCC knew that if they bowled with discipline they could get their first win of the league campaign.

USRC started their innings quickly with the opening pair scoring 35 from 4 overs. From there HKCC pulled the game back with some good catching and Amanda Chueng took 2 important wickets in the middle of the innings to halt USRC’s run chase and end on 81 for 7.

HKCC won by 41 runs.

The second afternoon game saw the two winning teams from the morning fixtures come together.

Once again SCC Divas stuck to their winning formula of, winning the toss and batting first. The aggressive approach by the Divas batters put CCC bowlers under pressure. Josie Arimus carried on her fine form with 24 off 9 balls but it was Jenny Alumbro this time smashing 43 off 15 balls that took SCC Divas total to 157 off 16 overs.

CCC once again looked solid with the bat only losing 1 wicket in the 16 overs but found runs hard to score. Dorothea Chan (31) gave everything in the last few overs but it was not enough. CCC 104/1.

SCC Divas won by 53 runs.
