Becoming a coach with CHK
1. All coaches need to register on a yearly basis(Sept) and attend mandatory meetings throughout the year.
2. All coaches need to get SCRC check in order to coach any school or community related programs.
3. All coaches are recommended to have first aid/standard CPR training.

Becoming a coach can provide so many great benefits for you and those you want to help develop and progress. Coaching provides the opportunity to work with an exciting range of people, of different ages and abilities, from different backgrounds.
The first step for aspiring coaches is to undertake the ICC Foundation Certificate – a course which equips participants with the knowledge necessary to support qualified coaches deliver fun-first experiences for new and beginner participants.
The course doesn’t require any prior knowledge of the game, and introduces learners to the basic fundamentals of cricket, and what it takes to facilitate cricket sessions.
The ICC Foundation Certificate is entirely self-paced, meaning it can be done as fast or as slow as the learner wants, and is delivered entirely online.
Six modules make up the ICC Foundation Certificate:
Assessments are available at the end of each module, and require the aspiring coach to hit the pass mark of 75% before progressing to the next module.
Once all six modules and assessments have been completed, a certificate of completion will be issued.

Safeguarding
For anyone working in positions of responsibility within cricket in Hong Kong, for example coaching, assistant coaching or parent helping at junior cricket, it is mandatory to have a valid SCRC (Sexual Conviction Record Check). More information can be found here.

Course Purpose
The purpose of this course is to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to deliver fun and engaging coaching sessions for beginner into club participants.
Course Outcome
On completion of the course, participants will have the knowledge and skills to deliver fun and engaging coaching sessions for beginner participants.
Who is the course for?
This course is open to anyone aged over 16 who wishes to become a cricket coach. To be eligible to participate in the course, participants must have successfully completed the ICC Foundation Course.
Candidate competencies
In order to successfully complete this course, participants will need to demonstrate the following competencies:
– Demonstration of key skills required to be successful in cricket
– The ability to create a safe and inclusive environment
– The ability to deliver fun and engaging sessions
– The ability to adapt coaching sessions to work with different participants
Course delivery and cost
This course is delivered in two phases:
- Distance Learning. Participants will be provided access to 5 online modules to complete in their own time.
- In Person Learning. Participants must attend an in person course, delivered by an ICC Tutor, which will last for a minimum of 8 hours.

Who is it for?
The ICC Level 1 Coach Course is open to anyone who wishes to become a cricket coach. The minimum age to start the course is 16. To be eligible to participate in the course, participants must have successfully completed the ICC Foundation Certificate (free and online – click here to access the ICC Foundation Certificate )
Safeguarding
For anyone doing regulated work within cricket in Hong Kong, for example coaching juniors, it is mandatory to have an valid SCRC (Sexual Conviction Record Check). More information can be found here.
To achieve certification for the ICC Level 1 Coach course, learners must have a valid SCRC.
