Hong Kong, currently ranked 14th in ODI cricket will be looking to edge closer to the top 10 with an eye also on the crucial ICC World Cricket League Championship fixtures against Kenya later in the month.

Director of Cricket Charlie Burke said the whole squad are eagerly anticipating a rare chance to perform on home turf.

"The squad are really excited for this series, playing in front of local fans and family," Burke said.

"Every series is a chance to improve our standing in the world rankings and we are keen to build our relationship with PNG and provide more opportunities for our players, who are full-time now, to play."

"The other imortant aspect is that we are trying to offer fans in Hong Kong more cricket."

"The turnout was great to the Scotland series earlier in the year and that has encouraged us to schedule more relevant matches in Hong Kong."

Papua New Guinea defeated Hong Kong in two closely fought ODI matches in Townsville in 2014, the only meetings in the format between two countries.
