Captain Babar Hayat has called on cricket fans to come and support Hong Kong in their home One Day International series against Papua New Guinea starting on Friday.
Hayat will lead his team for the first time on home soil after taking the reins for the Tour of the United Kingdom and Ireland in September.
“First time playing in home conditions as captain – I’m really excited for it and hope we can get up 3-0,” Hayat said.
“The more people that come the better for us. In Hong Kong there are a lot of people interested in cricket and hopefully they turn up to support us.”
“We want to make Hong Kong proud and give the fans a good performance.”

The three game One Day International Series will be played across November 4,6 and 8 with tickets selling fast for the weekend fixture on Sunday.
“It’s a very important series for us – not only to keep our rankings up but we have two crucial ICC World Cricket League Games in Kenya later in the month,” Hayat said.
“We need to be in top form.”
Papua New Guinea have recently completed a whitewash series against Namibia in Port Moresby and will arrive in Hong Kong full of confidence.
The two teams are ranked only one place apart, making for an intriguing series.
“We won’t take them lightly at all,” Hayat said.
“They have a good side and a very good batting line-up but we do have home advantage and know the conditions, which will help us.”
“I’m very happy with how the guys are performing in the domestic league. Everyone is contributing in every game so it’s pleasing that we have players in form.”
PNG triumphed in the only two ODIs played between the two countries in Townsville back in 2014.
