Cricket Hong Kong launch U23 domestic T20 tournament

12日 12月

Cricket Hong Kong will be hosting the first ever Domestic U23’s T20 tournament at Mission Road from the 18th of December through to the 21st of December 2017. The format will be a round robin T20 competition featuring the Diasqua Little Sai Wan Cricket Club, the Pakistan Association Cricket Club, the Kowloon Cricket Club and a Cricket Hong Kong team made up of players from HKCC, USRC, the Vagabonds and the CHK Dragons. Each team will play each other once before the runner’s up and grand final on the last day.

The tournament provides a great opportunity for the younger players in Hong Kong to compete against each other at Hong Kong’s only ODI venue in a T20 format. Cricket Hong Kong’s Director of Cricket, Mark Wright had this to say “I am anticipating a high-quality tournament with a number of Hong Kong’s leading young players taking part across the fast-paced T20 Format. There are opportunities for players to put forward their names for higher honors at a time where Hong Kong cricket is continuing to progress across ICC accredited tournaments and events.”

Head Coach of the Diasqua Little Sai Wan Cricket Club, Saqlain Ghulam said "it is very encouraging to see CHK organise a T20 competition for the U23's. This will help bridge the gap for some of the Junior Cricketers to jump from Junior Cricket to Sunday Cricket". We are looking forward to a competitive first season."

KCC Manager Usman Manj was upbeat about the prospect of his younger players as they prepared for the Premier League T20 and T20 Blitz tournaments in early 2018. "This tournament is a great pathway for the young players to showcase their talent and it gives them a direct opportunity to knock on the doors of the National Men's Squad. It also provides them with some very competitive Cricket and gives them enough confidence just before the beginning of the Premier league and Hong Kong T20 Blitz 2018."

Matches commence at 10am and 2pm (please see the schedule below) and we encourage all HK Cricket fans to come down and support the players in what should be an exciting four days.
