Australian cricket legend Dean Jones will join the DTC Hong Kong T20 Blitz as lead commentator for the tournament’s Live Streaming coverage.
Jones, who played 52 Tests and 164 One Day Internationals for Australia was also the coach of the victorious Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League.
His appearance and support for the DTC Hong Kong T20 Blitz is a major boost for the inaugural tournament, which will feature former Australian captain Michael Clarke.
"Looking forward to see some new Hong Kong Talent," Jones said.
"Now Michael Clarke is keen to play T20 cricket, can't wait to see how he will play T20 cricket again? Will he play differently? And what new shots and attitudes he will bring to this format of the game."
"This Hong Kong T20 Blitz will no doubt develop local players' talents quicker and that's good for Hong Kong for future ICC events!"
Jones will be joined by Fox Sports’ Katherine Loughnan, who will host the broadcast scheduled for May 28 and 29. Former England Test player Jack Richards will also be part of the commentary team.
Tournament Chief Max Abbott said the arrival of Jones added enormous credibility to the Blitz’ coverage.
"Having someone of Dean’s experience and expertise is just another huge step forward in this tournament’s short lifespan," Abbott said.
"He is a legend of the game and knows the T20 game inside out, as shown with his results as a coach in the PSL."
"We hope that a successful coverage of this year’s event can lead to a television broadcast arrangement for future years."
The streaming coverage will be available through Hong Kong Cricket Association’s YouTube channel and other websites soon to be announced.
