Premier League 2-Day
The annual Annual Quaid I Azam trophy is set to take place next week, on the 25th and 26th of December at Tin Kwong Road Recreational Ground (Mission Road). This historic match-up between Pakistan Association Cricket Club and Diasqua Little Sai Wan Cricket Club also doubles up as the second fixture of the CHK Premier League 2-Day competition, with the winner set to face Kowloon Cricket Club (who won the Hancock Shield earlier this month) in the grand final in 2019.
Last year PACC emerged victorious by 8 wickets. Tanwir Afzaal won the toss, elected to field first, and returned match figures of 14/85 while also scoring a run-a-ball 36 at his one stint at the crease. Yasim Murtaza scored the only fifty of the game, and PACC ended up needing just 36 to win in the 4th innings, which they got in just 5 overs.
This year sees two similar looking outfits set to compete at full strength. PACC will be bolstered by the addition of Babar Hayat to their squad, while DLSW’s spin attack is likely to feature Ehsan Khan, Ghazanfer Mohammad and Aftab Hussain – all three of whom represented Hong Kong this past year. Also expect other young talent like Hamed Khan, Shahid Wasif, Nasrullah Rana and Haroon Arshad to be taking part.
Sunday
Before this 2-Day fixture, PACC will be in action on Sunday, taking on USRC/MCC Elite in a Division 1 match up at Mission Road. Both sides currently sit near the bottom of the table, with PACC currently 3.5 points ahead, and so both sides are in real need a victory to avoid relegation. An exciting game awaits.
Saturday
And before that Sunday, PACC will in action on Saturday, taking on DLSW Sarjan in a Div 1 Sat League matchup at Mission Road as well. Only half a point separates both these teams in the table, DLSW at 2nd and PACC at 3rd. Both sit some distance behind 1st placed HKCC Gap Ramblers, but the fight for second is very much alive. Expect an exciting game with plenty of fireworks.
USRC/MCC are in action on Saturday too, playing the KCC Tartars at KCC. The Tartars are coming off a narrow loss (and a slow-over rate) last weekend to the KCC Saracens – they will look to bounce back strong here against the 5th placed side. Despite the ranking, USRC/MCC are actually unbeaten this season – they’ll be looking for a big win here to remind the top of the table of their presence.
Under-17
And just one Junior game lined up for us this week, an Under-17 Derby between DLSW Lions and the DLSW Cheetahs in the 35-Over Elite Division. Both sides have just 1 win out of 4 games so far, and will be looking to get one over their club rivals as they look for a spot in the finals.
