CHK Dragons Head Coach has been working with the squad over the pre-tournament period along with Assistant Coach Richard Waite and is looking forward to the tournament and an opportunity for the squad to secure the title. He said

After a long period of preparation training for the guys that has seen them work in addition with Pathways Coach, Mark Farmer on specific elements of batting, with Simon Cook on bowling specifics and with both Brandon Kwok and the team at THEi on areas of fitness and conditioning, we are all ready for the tournament to begin. Since the last East Asia Cup in Japan two years ago the squad have lost some faces, through work commitments overseas but also gained some new faces, the previously mentioned Ken Tsang who has joined us while also being a member of HK Hockey. This has all provided new dimensions to the whole squad from which each member can learn from each other. Our internal CHK Chinese system have also supplied us with several new faces into the squad and of these David Fang has quickly established himself as someone who shows great promise. In addition to these two we have the experience of captain, Li Kai Ming leading them with a number of experienced batters and bowlers at his disposal.

At the last East Asia Cup, CHK Dragons finished a disappointing third and it was felt that their lack of opportunity to play T20 cricket in the lead up didn’t help so this time they will be taking part in three warm up T20 fixtures v CHK Pathways Squads put together by Mark Farmer on the 2nd & 9Th September where they can look to finalise their plans and their starting line ups for that first match.

The East Asia Cup commences for the Dragons on Thursday 13th September 2018 at Mission Road (Tin Kwong Road Recreational Ground) v Japan, start time is 1.30pm.

They will also be joined by China and South Korea. The schedule consists of a round-robin between the 4 teams with the top two proceeding to the Final and the other two to the 3rd Place Play-Off.
