Hong Kong will face up against a Test nation for the first time in a First Class match when they take on Afghanistan at Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground starting on Friday.
The match forms part of the ICC Intercontinental Cup where Hong Kong is currently ranked 7th of 8 teams with a game in hand.
A win could see Hong Kong move up to third place, while a draw could see Hong Kong up to fourth.
The task will be a difficult one with Afghanistan set to move to the top of the table heading into the last round of the competition if they win or draw the match.
Hong Kong’s most recent outing in the tournament was a draw against The Netherlands earlier this year.
They will have to combat Afghanistan leg-spinning whiz Rashid Khan who has dominated some of the world’s top T20 leagues in recent months. The Afghans also have an impressive stock of pace bowlers with Dalwat Zadran their spearhead able to bowl in excess of 140km/h.
The match takes place over four days at Tin Kwong Road and entry is free into the ground on all days of the match.
