Hong Kong set to be boosted by InstaReM as squad announced for Sixes

The Hong Kong men’s Cricket team will enter the 2017 Hong Kong World Sixes with its highest ever world ranking (14th in the world) this weekend.

Their performance in Hong Kong’s hallmark cricket event will be further boosted by the announcement that they will be powered by sponsors InstaReM during the Sixes (28-29 October at Kowloon Cricket Club).

Hong Kong have reached the final of the Sixes on one previous occasion in 2009, a loss to South Africa but Director of Cricket Mark Wright says Hong Kong can win the Sixes title next week, following the release of a near-full strength squad of seven players.

"Hong Kong have put together some standout performances in years gone by in the Sixes and confidence is high amongst the group to take home the title this year,” Wright said.

Hong Kong will be captained by Babar Hayat, who missed out by one vote on winning the player of the tournament award in 2012.

The squad also contains fellow big-hitters Nizakat Khan and Jamie Atkinson, who also have plenty of experience in the Sixes format.

The Sixes for 2017 is designed for digital innovation and it is fitting for Team Hong Kong to be partnered with InstaReM, who have technology at the core of their business.

InstaReM is one of the largest digital cross-border payments companies in Southeast Asia, which enables financial institutions, SMEs and individuals to make fast and low-cost overseas payments to over 50 countries.

Cricket Hong Kong Director Jonathan Cummings said the partnership was testament to the commercial potential of the Sixes.

“The Sixes is a world class event that has enormous reach around the world, so it’s fantastic to be able to secure commercial sponsorship for our national team at our home event,” Cummings said.

The InstaReM logo will be worn on the sleeve of the Hong Kong playing shirts throughout the event.

“We are delighted to be the sponsor of the official Hong Kong team for Hong Kong Sixes 2017. InstaReM shares with Cricket Hong Kong a common vision for innovation, and we are happy to support and promote the spirit and sport of cricket in Hong Kong,” said Prajit, Co-founder and CEO of InstaReM.

The Sixes will feature 23 games over two turbo-charged days at Kowloon Cricket Club on October 28 and 29. Tickets are available at www.ticketflap.com/hksixes
