Hong Kong has lost its 5^th place play-off match against Canada on United Cricket Ground in Namibia. In a dour affair, Hong Kong was bowled out for a paltry 113 and the total was chased down in XX overs.

Babar Hayat top scored on 32 and put on 53 with Scott McKechnie who made 25 of the Hong Kong total. The left arm spin of Saad bin Zafar took 4 wickets for 30.

This means Hong Kong slots in Cricket World Cup Challenge League “B”. The group will also include Kenya, Uganda, Jersey, Bermuda and Italy.

The league will consist of three World Cricket League-style single round-robin events held in the 2019-21 period, meaning each team will play a total of 15 List A matches each over the course of the tournament.

Each winner of the two Challenge League groups will join the bottom four from the CWC League in a play-off for the final two spots in the Cricket World Cup Qualifier in 2022.

Skipper Anshuman Rath said the team looks forward to the T20 World Cup Qualifiers in October.

"It should be a good three week as we have a lot of time to prepare. T20 suits us and hopefully, the lads will be up for that."

Coach Simon Cook reflected on the team's overall performance.

"Clearly hugely disappointing. We came into the tournament in really good spirits through our preparation tour where we beat PNG twice, so it was obviously disappointing to lose to them on this ground (United) and it started a bit of a slip back to our old style of playing. We spoke about the dangers of doing the same old things and getting the same results and unfortunately, that's what ultimately happened which is exceptionally disappointing."

The other Challenge League group “A” will have Singapore, Denmark, Malaysia, Vanuatu and Qatar.
