The Men’s teams from Malaysia, Kuwait and Bahrain will all visit Hong Kong for a T20I Quadrangular Series from 8th to 12th March, with all games played at the Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground!
Burji Shroff, chairperson of Cricket Hong Kong, China, said "We at Cricket Hong Kong, China are proud to welcome our friends from Malysia, Kuwait and Bahrain to Hong Kong for this historic tournament and bringing back international cricket to Hong Kong"
“It is great to be able to play at home in front of our fans after all this time” said Nizakat Khan, captain of the HK Men’s Team. “Many of the youngsters have not had a chance of representing Hong Kong in Hong Kong, so we are excited at this opportunity and looking forward to the games!”
Ravi Nagdev, Head of Cricket Operations of Cricket Hong Kong, China, stated “These are the first T20Is our Men’s team have played since they faced India and Pakistan in the Asia Cup, so it is a great opportunity for them to show how far they’ve come as a side! This is also a historic tournament as these will be the first international cricket matches in Hong Kong since 2018. We are keen to see the people of Hong Kong come out and support their Cricket Team.”
Malysia and Hong Kong have a long history of cricket in the region, while Kuwait can second place in the recent ACC Asia Cup Qualifier held in Oman in August 2022. Kuwait beat UAE and Singapore but lost to Hong Kong who gained their place in the Asia Cup.
Sajid Khan, CEO of Kuwait Cricket Association said ,”We are excited to visit Hong Kong and resume our rivalry with the Hong Kong team. Tournament like these will strengthen the corporation between Associate Nations”
Dinesh Muthuraman, COO of Malaysia Cricket Association said, “Malaysia and Hong Kong have been competing against each other since 1866, and it was the highlight of our cricket calendars even before the days of the International and Asian Cricket Council organized matches. We look forward to more games between the two teams”
Gurumurthy Palani, Chief Development Officer of Bahrain Cricket Association said, “Bahrain welcomes the invite and hospitality of Cricket Hong Kong, and we look forward to some very competitive Maches.”
