Saturday Championship Division 2

With the Mission Road ground reopened after a short break, Lamma CC took on DLSWCC Spartans in a Saturday Championship Division 2 match.

DLSWCC Spartans won the toss and elected to bowl first. Mohsin Khan grabbed an early wicket after which the floodgates opened as the Spartans’ attack washed away Lamma’s defences. From 2/32 Lamma were routed for just 53 with only two batsmen reaching double figures. For DLSWCC Spartans, Karandeep Singh claimed 4/17 and Hari Virani grabbed 3/6.

The Spartans’ batsmen had little trouble knocking off the runs inside 12 overs with opener Muhammad Haseeb hitting an unbeaten 38. For Lamma, Brenton McDonald picked up 3/20 in five overs.

At Mission Road: Lamma CC 53 from 12.1 overs lost to DLSWCC Spartans 3/54 from 11.3 overs by seven wickets.

There was another low scoring encounter at PKVR Park where HKU CC dispatched Pioneers CC by ten wickets.

Pioneers batted first after winning the toss and their openers put on 47 runs for the first wicket. However, the loss of the first wicket triggered a collapse that saw five wickets fall for the addition of only ten runs. The second half of the batting line-up added a nearly fifty runs to the total but 104 all out was a disappointing effort by the Pioneers batting line-up after such a promising start. Leading the bowling for HKU was Ashwin Dokania with 3/11 while Tiran Ranasinghe claimed 3/12.

HKU’s openers Martin Sabine and Ashwin Dokina knocked off the runs in 14 overs runs with Sabine finishing unbeaten on 48 and Dokania 37 not out.

At PKVR Park: Pioneers CC 104 from 32.3 overs lost to HKU CC 0/106 from 14 overs by ten wickets.
