Women’s Premier League (22.05.2016) – Match Report

In the day’s leading up to the final Women’s Premier League game of the 2015-16 season inclement weather threatened. Thankfully the clouds cleared and Sunday’s game started on time at Mission Road. The HKCA Sail team won the toss and elected to bat with high hopes of emulating last week’s score of 8/191.

They started solidly, reaching 27 before the fall of the first wicket with Kary Chan contributing a well composed 19 from 28 balls. The HKCA Bauhinia then tightened the screws dismissing the next three batsman for only 8 runs taking the score to 4/35.

Regular wickets meant the HKCA Sail’s innings never got going, with only Ruchitha Venkatesh in the middle order contributing double figures (37 not out from 70 balls). Some late hitting by number 11, Yousaf Mehreen (11 from 16) pushed the score up above 100.
HKCA Bauhinia’s bowlers all contributed with Shizuka Miyaji (3 for 9 off 5 overs) the pick and Australian Women’s player Kristen Beams a very close second with 2 for 10 off just 3 overs. The HKCA Sails were bowled out in 32.1 overs for 114 runs, a great bowling effort by the HKCA Bauhinia’s.

In reply, the HKCA Bauhinia’s made short work of the relatively small total thanks to opener Shizuka Miyaji (53 not out) who rounded off a great all round game. Other notable mentions included Keenu Gill (18 off 18) and Mariko Hill (10 off 14) whilst Jasmine Titmuss was the pick of the bowlers for the HKCA Sails bagging 2 wickets for 28 runs from her 5 overs. The Bauhinia’s reached the target of 115 losing just 6 wickets with nearly 10 overs to spare.

Score Summary: HKCA Sail 114 from 32.1 overs lost to HKCA Bauhinia 6/115 from 29.2 overs by four wickets.
