Craigengower Cricket Club's (CCC) two Chinese teams have returned from a successful tour of Tainan in Taiwan..
The two teams of male and female cricketers combined in a CCC XI to play against Chang Jung Christian University and Shih Hu Junior High School in Tainan. Both of the local teams were students introduced to cricket in the Chinese Taipei Cricket Sports Association's Development programme.
"CCC Hung See and Fung Wong (the two Chinese teams) were set up to attract members of the Chinese community who take an interest in cricket to have fun and enjoy the game together," said Willis Ho, CCC Tainan Tour Manager.
"This is not limited to Hong Kong but to all Chinese around the world. That is why we organised this tour to Tainan to encourage cricket development in Taiwan."
The matches were played in a series of games with the more experienced CCC side coming out on top in all but the final match, where a gritty performance from Chang Jung Christian University saw them claim a four wicket win.
One of the star performers of the weekend was CCC Fung Wong vice-captain and Hong Kong women's player Kary Chan, who was not dismissed with scores of 31 and 40.
"The Taiwan cricket players have great potential," Chan said.
"Their baseball-playing background definately helps their fielding and to a certain extent their batting. They just need to work a bit on their bowling - it is a very different action compared to what they are familiar with."
