LOCAL HK CRICKET CLUB MAKES FIRST EVER TOUR TO IRAN

Craigengower Cricket Club has just returned from the Islamic Republic of Iran after an historic cricket tour to Tehran and also Turkey.

Speaking upon arrival at Hong Kong International Airport, the Tour Leader, Rodney Miles said, "Our Tour to Tehran was a marvelous and historic experience for all involved."

"It was a ground breaking occasion and the warmth, generosity and hospitality of our hosts from Cricket Iran was very humbling," he said.

"This is a big first for the way in which Hong Kong cricket is seen, both locally and internationally", Miles said.

"Hong Kong has always been innovative and visionary in her thinking. This visit of a Club side further demonstrates Hong Kong's can-do approach", Miles continued.

An ebullient Miles, who is also President of the Hong Kong Cricket Association, said "Craigengower - a Club which has achieved so much in the " helping the chinese discoover cricket" also has a Chinese men's team and Chinese women's team on tour in Taiwan".

"It is hard to imagine that one Club has concurrent tours on opposite sides of the world". "It is very exciting for Hong Kong", Miles said.

When asked about the dangers of traveling to Iran and Istanbul at this time, Miles added, "You could not imagine the warmth of our greeting in Tehran and Istanbul and we were all very excited to be there."

"Our hosts were warm and welcoming and we were greeted with smiles and friendly faces where ever we went!"

"It fair to say there are many misconceptions about conditions in Tehran and hopefully our visit will have a positive impact on the perceptions of the international cricketing community."
