Kowloon Cricket Club hammer defending champions in Premier League

03 October 2016

Kowloon Cricket Club have sent a strong message to the rest of the competition after skittling defending Premier League champions Diasqua Little Sai Wan Cricket Club.

After having already dismantled Hong Kong Cricket Club and CHK Independents XI, KCC dismissed Little Saiwan for just 54, with Ashley Caddy (4-6) and Tanveer Ahmed (4-10) doing the bulk of the damage.

KCC then knocked the runs off in less than 9 overs for the loss of two wickets, with Kinchit Shah smashing an unbeaten 35 off 17 balls to confirm the victory.

"I think we've been led very clearly by our bowling squad," coach Ryan Campbell said.

"They've boweld with discipline and great intent and that's been the diference between the teams we've played".

"We've bowled and fielded like a Premier League team should and the opposition hasn't stood up to the pressure."

"In saying that, there is a long way to go and we aren't getting ahead of ourselves. I know HKCC and Little Saiwan will bounce back."

"We've set ourselves a goal to be the best team in Hong Kong and so far we've done well."

"The wicket at KCC was as good as I've seen it, but our bowling has been outstanding and it's been someone different every week."

"This week it was Ashley Caddy who came in to the side and stood up and Tanveer Ahmed took four wickets as well."

Scott Mckechnie acted as the team's anchor, scoring an unbeaten 95 off 97 balls to guide HKCC to the target in the 44th over. Nizakat continued his red hot form hammering 72 off 30 balls to reduce the required run rate to a comfortable level.

The win moves HKCC to second on the ladder behind KCC.
