Statement on ICC Anti-Corruption Tribunal Decisions

27 August 2019

Cricket Hong Kong has confirmed that three former Hong Kong players have been found guilty by an ICC Anti-Corruption Tribunal of breaching the ICC Anti-Corruption Code.

The charges date to matches played in January 2014, July 2015 and March 2016, respectively, and Cricket Hong Kong had previously suspended the three players from all cricket activities in Hong Kong in 2018.

The Tribunal found the three players guilty of fixing or contriving to fix matches, failing (for reward) to perform, and failing to disclose approaches to fix during a number of international fixtures.

Irfan Ahmed and Nadeem Ahmed were found guilty of nine and three offences under the Code respectively, and received life bans. Haseeb Amjad was found guilty of three offences under the Code and was suspended from all cricket for a period of five years.

Cricket Hong Kong cooperated fully with the ICC while the matter was being investigated and fully supports the action taken by the ICC.

Cricket Hong Kong is committed to protecting the integrity of cricket and will take every step in its power to prevent corrupt practices undermining the integrity of the sport, including any efforts to improperly influence the outcome or any other aspect of any match; and to preserve public confidence in the readiness, willingness and ability of both the ICC and Cricket Hong Kong to protect the sport from such corrupt practices.
