It was a day for the bowlers at KCC, with 19 wickets falling for just 216 runs, and a highest score of 27 between the two teams. KCC elected to bat first, with Aizaz Khan and Jamie Atkinson taking 37 runs off the powerplay. The USRC bowlers bowled tightly, but what seemed like a slow start for KCC would ultimately be the largest partnership of the entire game. Aizaz tried to break the shackles first ball of the 7th over, but could only find the man in the deep, and a few balls later Jamie was also dismissed, edging a drive behind to the keeper. Seamer Ali Mohammad had struck twice against his former club, and the hosts were in a spot of bother at 38/2 in 7 overs. Rory Cox picked up three boundaries off Imran Arif the following over, and Simandeep Singh deposited Sheryar Khan for a six the over after that to create some momentum for KCC. But both batsmen were dismissed soon after by young left-arm spinner Ehsan Muhammad, and Ali Mohammad dismissed Waqas Barkat caught behind last ball of the 15th over to cap off a 6 over passage of play that yielded no boundaries and only 33 runs for KCC. At 90/5 in 15 overs, KCC were at risk of posting a low score, but Chris Carter and Jason Davidson hit 4 sixes and 2 fours between them in the final 5 overs to lift KCC up to 141.

In reply, USRC got off to the worst possible start in their chase. Skipper Imran Arif was out LBW 3rd ball to Davidson, and Aizaz struck twice in the 2nd over to remove Skhawat Ali and Sheryar Khan. Aizaz struck twice again in the 4th, sending back Shahid Wasif and Umar Mohammad, and USRC were reeling at 17/5 in the 5th over. Aizaz finished a phenomenal 3 over spell with figures of 4/10, and the visitors were never able to recover. Ateeq Iqbal, Dan Pascoe and Waqas Barkat all chipped in with a wicket a piece to help reduce USRC to 75/8 in 13 overs. Young offspinner Ahan Trivedi then got a bowl in his #PLT20 debut and struck twice in his first two balls to wrap up the innings – both batsmen miscuing attempted shots over the top to bring a hasty conclusion to the chase. USRC all out for 75 in their opening game, and still searching for a maiden Premier League victory. KCC kicking off their #PLT20 campaign with a win in their opening match!
