Kowloon Cricket Club (87/0 in 9.4 overs, Nizakat Khan 56*) beat Diasqua Little Sai Wan Cricket Club DLIT (86 a/o in 19.4 overs, Aizaz Khan 2/13, Ateeq Iqbal 2/15, Dan Pascoe 2/17) by 10 wickets
KCC’s bowling attack worked over the DLSW DLIT batting lineup, before Nizakat Khan picked the bowling apart, as the hosts completed a dominant victory over at the Kowloon Cricket Club this past Sunday. In a match reminiscent of the PACC vs USRC fixture earlier this month, DLSW DLIT were bowled out for just 86, before Nizakat and Aizaz Khan wrapped up the run chase inside of 10 overs
DLSW DLIT went in with the same XI that won in impressive fashion over USRC on Saturday, while KCC left out left-arm quick Ashley Caddy for young right-arm seamer Suhaib Ahmed. Ehsan Khan called correctly at the toss, and yet again opted to bat first.
However, this time, there was no flying start from the top order. Shahid Wasif nicked Aizaz behind in the second over, and Khan Israr Ahmed edged Jay Davidson in the third. Hussain Ikram was dismissed by Ateeq Iqbal in the 5th over, caught at mid-off by Dan Pascoe, who then bowled Waqas Khan on the sweep the very next over. After the powerplay, DLSW DLIT were 18/4 and in serious trouble.
It didn’t get much better from there. Ibraheem Ishaq hung around for a 20-ball 13, and Mehran Zeb hit 19* off 21 balls with 3 boundaries, but wickets kept falling at regular intervals. All six bowlers used by KCC took wickets, with Aizaz, Ateeq and Pascoe being the stand outs. To cap off this impressive bowling display, they ran out Mohsin Khan in the final over, as he turned back for the third run on an overthrow. DLSW DLIT bowled out for 86.
They would need a strong start with the ball if they were to stay in this game, but it was not to be. The experienced pair of Nizakat Khan and Aizaz Khan took the attack to the DLSW DLIT bowling, picking up boundaries early on against Mohsin Khan and Aftab Hussain. Ehsan Khan brought himself on in the 5th over, and Nizakat went after him, taking one six off him in the 5th over, followed by three consecutive sixes in the 8th. Aizaz Khan joined in on the fun, with a pair of sixes off Ghazanfar in the 9th, as KCC romped home with 10 wickets and more than 10 overs to spare.
An impressive performance, they now sit second in the table to PACC. A replay of this match can be found on YouTube, or for CricHQ premium fans, on the scorecard linked above.
