Cricket Hong Kong, China and Fairbreak Global are pleased to announce that preparations are underway for the second edition of the FairBreak Invitational T20 Tournament, scheduled for 1st to 16th April of this year at the Kowloon Cricket Club!
FairBreak Global are an organization committed to creating opportunities across sport, health, business, media, arts and education to empower women to pursue success in their chosen endeavor, using cricket as their primary vehicle.
This is the second edition of FairBreak’s showpiece event, following the successful inaugural event in May 2022. Originally scheduled for Hong Kong, it was moved to Dubai due to COVID-19 restrictions but was organized and conducted in partnership with Cricket Hong Kong, China.
The event proved to be extremely popular, with millions following the live broadcasts across the world. This tournament now returns to Hong Kong and will be hosted at the historic Kowloon Cricket club in less than two months’ time! Kowloon Cricket Club has hosted a number of world class events in the past including the Hong Kong International Cricket Sixes
Six franchised teams comprising of 90 of the best women’s players from around the world will compete in a two-week T20 tournament. This tournament will bring together players from over 35 nations around the world.
Two franchises – The Barmy Army Team and Team Spirit – have already announced their squads, with four Hong Kong players – Ruchitha Venkatesh, Iqra Sahar, Yasmin Daswani and Betty Chan – named so far as well as Top International Players including South African Batter Laura Wolvaardt, and South African Bowler Ayabonga Khaka as well as Bangladesh’s star all rounder Rumana Ahmed. A total of 12 Hong Kong players are set to take part in what is seen to be the second most anticipated women’s cricket event in the calendar, right behind the World Cup!
FairBreak Global have also announced a second tournament for 2023. Fully sanctioned by the ICC, it will be staged in Houston, Texas from September 15th to 30th, and organized in partnership with USA Cricket. This shows the growth of the FairBreak movement into two of the largest markets in the world, with Hong Kong as the home of the Asian leg of this groundbreaking initiative.

We believe that this can further establish Hong Kong as a center for major cricket events in the region. It is also a wonderful opportunity for our women cricketer’s to play against some of the best players in the world, and will build on the success they have had in the last few years”
2023 is set to be a historic year for Women’s Cricket, with the first ever Women’s Premier League set to be launched by the Board of Control for Cricket in India late next month! Ten Hong Kong players have registered themselves for the player auction for the five-team tournament, in the Associate player category which could take place as soon as this month.
