Hung Hom JD Jaguars have announced Johan Botha as the latest addition to their squad for the Hong Kong T20 Blitz 2017. The Proteas and Sydney Sixers all-rounder recently played in the final of the Australian Big Bash League.

As a former ODI and T20I captain of South Africa, Botha brings with him tremendous tactical understanding of the game. He has played on a variety of pitches across continents over the past decade, and has scored victories all round. Having recently played in several global T20 franchise tournaments, he has also established himself as a global icon of T20 cricket. Some of the prolific teams that he has been part of include Kolkata Knight Riders for the Indian Premiere League (IPL), Sydney Sixers for the Big Bash League (BBL), and Trinidad & Tobago Red Steel for the Caribbean Premiere League (CPL). Each time he has stepped on the park, he has consistently kept players in a spin with both ball and bat.

“Botha is a wonderful asset to have on any team XI,” observed Trevor Penny, one of the coaching staff of Hung Hom JD Jaguars.

“He can help stall the opposition’s momentum with his economical spells, as well as bolster our team scores with the bat,”

Botha said he is looking forward to making a difference adding Hong Kong as new destination in his cricket resume.

“I’m very excited to be roaring for the Hung Hom JD Jaguars, and I can’t wait to see cricket come to Hong Kong in such a blistering way at the Hong Kong T20 Blitz,” said Botha.

The other teams participating in Hong Kong’s second T20 Blitz include Galaxy Gladiators Lantau, City Kaitak, Hong Kong Island United, and Kowloon Cantons. All the tournament matches will be played at the Mission Road Cricket Ground, on 8-12 March 2017. The first four days will comprise of playoff matches against each of the other teams, while the top two teams will then progress to combat each other in the competition final on 12 March 2017.
