India-A and Pakistan-A join South Asian Neighbours in Semis after Washout

Saturday morning’s bout between Nepal and Hong Kong was abandoned due to persistent rain, which also led to the abandonment of the marquee clash between India-A and Pakistan-A.

This means that India-A will play Sri Lanka-A in the first Semi-final on Monday before Bangladesh-A square off against Pakistan-A in Semi-final 2.

Over the years, Cricket Hong Kong, China has successfully staged matches in early to mid June.

Yet, an extended bout of inclement weather and the subsequent abandonment of games is disappointing for everyone at CHK. While rain is not uncommon in the month of June, Hong Kong has been hit by an unprecedented four torrential amber rainstorms in as many days.

Looking forward, the forecast for Monday’s Semi-finals and Wednesday’s final is for sunny skies and a low chance of rain.

The first three days of the ACC Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup saw three games go down to the last-over. Given the standard of cricket and competitiveness between these four teams, fans around the world will be treated to more memorable action in the final two days of the tournament.

CHK would like to invite the Hong Kong community down to the Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground on Monday and Wednesday to witness the conclusion of the ACC Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup. While shaded areas are available for spectators seeking respite from the sun, members of the public are reminded to use sunscreen protection and to stay regularly hydrated.
