Cricket Hong Kong was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Mark Edwards last week in the United Kingdom after a short but courageous fight against cancer.
“Eddie” will be remembered as a tough but always honourable competitor on the cricket field. He was a member of the HKCC Scorpions that won the League and Cup Double in 2005/6, and he captained the team with distinction from 2006 to 2008. He continued his involvement with both the Scorpions and Nomads until he and the family returned to Liverpool in 2013.
Mark also served on the Hong Kong Cricket Association Executive Committee between 2011 and 2013 where he was the Chairman of the League and Cup Management Committee. He also chaired the Disciplinary Committee where he was regarded by those who crossed his path in that capacity as firm but always fair.
On behalf of the entire Hong Kong cricket community, our sincere condolences go to his wonderful wife Anna and lovely daughters Beth, Ally and Tori.
Mark’s funeral is being held on Wednesday, August 16 at St Joseph's RC church, Blundellsands. Liverpool. There is a simultaneous Hong Kong gathering to celebrate Mark’s life the HKCC Chater Tavern at 7pm.
